Project Summary

This innovative use for waste coal mined from coal impoundments, left in the 1950s through the 1980s, is a proprietary process that produces a filter cake of micro-fine 99% pure hydrocarbon that can be used in a variety of combustible fuel applications as well as other non-combustion applications.

The mineral waste removed from the refuse will be returned to the impoundment, making the land viable for farming or selling it as soil enhancement.

IPM was integral in the process development and all facets of project and construction management, as well as commissioning, start-up, and optimization support.

The facility is the first successful production scale facility to produce 99% pure hydrocarbon from waste coal.
